Visiva Leadership® is a Jungian-oriented leadership assessment and development technique that uses images and metaphors to help individuals access and express the hidden drivers of their leadership. It is based on the fundamental premise that images are capable of eliciting attitudes and emotions in a profound and authentic way that can help us perceive, understand, and act upon emerging patterns. As sources of insight and universal language, images are powerful vehicles for richer and different conversations:
For individuals, images are personal metaphors through which we express profound beliefs and uncover hidden attitudes, leading to greater self- awareness of our own leadership. Images also offer “safe bridges” to engage and connect more deeply with colleagues.
For teams, images stimulate authentic, “below-the-waterline” conversations that help members understand peer motivations at a deeper level. The rich conversations that result build trust and acceptance.
For companies, the improved understanding, empathy and trust gained through Visiva Leadership’s image-based conversations lead to greater employee engagement, better alignment and improved performance.
Here’s why Visiva Leadership is uniquely effective:
Precise. Participants provide an image that to them represents leadership along with a narrative that explains the reasons behind their choice. They select their image from a virtually infinite image set that allows them to find the exact image they seek. This precision allows more accurate, personalized, and multi-layered analysis of the image.
Disciplined. Jungian-oriented interpretation of the image is based on accepted psychological theory and draws on extensive experience with leadership assessment and development. It is a structured process that has been replicated over thousands of images across diverse organizations and is proven to improve leadership effectiveness.
Revealing. Unlike traditional classification assessments that place individuals into groupings of “people like you,” the Visiva Leadership assessment is as unique as the individual participating in it. Using images to express ourselves goes deeper than other assessments, revealing the unseen parts of our leadership that drive the visible ways we show up: our personal interactions, behaviors, choices, and decisions.
Visiva Leadership® experience transforms leadership team cohesion
Pharmaceutical company
The company’s Leadership Team was composed of strong personalities. Many of the team’s interactions were less than successful, with some members feeling they lacked voice in the face of loud, forceful, and disrespectful peers. Clearly, the decision-making by such a team was sub-optimal.
Letizia Amadini Lane proposed a one-day offsite workshop using the proprietary Visiva Leadership® assessment as the foundation for greater self-awareness and deeper conversations about leadership. Prior to the meeting, team members were asked to each submit an image that represented their view of leadership, followed by a private analysis and translation of their image. At the offsite, each member explained their image, leading to a collective “aha” about how the different leadership styles and attitudes of the group were creating tension and misunderstandings. Skill building around working together—active listening, empathy, authenticity, rapport, influencing, and communication style—provided the tools to translate insights and understanding into sustainable behaviors.
Every member of the team had been through leadership development workshops in the past, and all agreed that this one was different: the use of the innovative Visiva Leadership approach and communicating through images broke through to the group in a way past training had not. The team members became more self-aware and self-regulating, and the mutual understanding led to greater trust and respect. The result was better group dynamics and greater team cohesion. Two years later, the group was still referring to their leadership types based on this powerful experience.
